Italian Sausage & Peppers

This mixture of sweet Italian sausage and sliced bell peppers, with onion, garlic, basil and crushed tomatoes, is made in the crock pot.

  • Servings: 6-8


2 lb Sweet Italian Sausage Links
1 Tbsp Chopped Garlic
6 Bell Peppers
1 Medium Yellow Onion
1-28 oz. can Crushed Tomatoes
Olive Oil
Salt & Pepper
3 or 4 Fresh Basil Leaves
Cooked Pasta or Italian Rolls, split


Turn your empty crock pot on HIGH and pour 1 Tbsp of olive oil in the bottom. Stir the chopped garlic into the oil and cover the pot. Let the garlic heat up while you prepare the other ingredients. Slice the onion and add to the oil. Cut each sausage link in two; add to the crock pot. Clean and slice the peppers into strips; add to sausage. Stir all ingredients well before adding the can of tomatoes. Stir again and add the basil, salt and pepper. Cover and cook on LOW about 7-8 hours. Serve over pasta, or in fresh Italian rolls.

Helpful Tips:

This recipe can be cooked longer. It can be cooked overnight and stored. This meal will taste even better if left over and reheated! If it seems too juicy, turn the crock pot to HIGH and uncover while you prepare the rest of the meal.
