French or Italian bread is bias-sliced to, but not through, the bottom. The slices are then spread with a mixture of cheese, butter, Italian seasoning and garlic powder, and then grilled to heat through.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup shredded cheese (such as mozzarella or Monterey Jack)
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 loaf French or Italian bread
  • Heavy duty aluminum foil

Method

In a bowl mix together all ingredients except bread. Slice bread diagonally into 1-inch slices; do not cut through the loaf completely. You must leave the slices attached to the loaf. Spread cheese mixture evenly between bread slices. Wrap bread in foil, sealing tops and sides. Grill over medium heat about 10 minutes, turning over after 5 minutes

Notes:

Number of Servings: 6-8
