Four Meat Cavatini


A savory pasta dish, loaded with sausage, pepperoni, prosciutto, topped with tomato sauce and of course, plenty of gooey cheese.



Ingredients:

  • 1 28 oz can tomato puree
  • 1 6 oz can tomato paste
  • 1 small yellow onion, minced
  • 1 tbsp garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup red wine vinegar
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp basil
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1/2 lb Italian sausage
  • 3 oz chopped prosciutto
  • 48 pepperoni slices, cut in half
  • 1/2 green pepper, chopped in bite size pieces
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese
  • 2 1/2 cup dry pasta (use any shape or a combination of different pastas)

Method

Place first 11 ingredients in a large Dutch oven. Stir to incorporate ingredients well. Simmer for at least 2 hours. If sauce becomes to thick, add 1/4-1/2 cup water. While sauce simmers, brown ground beef and Italian sausage with green peppers. Drain well and add to sauce. Add proscuitto and pepperoni to sauce. Continue simmering sauce and meat mixture for 2 hours. Boil pasta and drain well. Grease or butter a 13 x 9 glass baking dish. Pour in pasta then pour sauce over pasta. Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese then Parmesan cheese. Bake in 350 degree preheated oven for 20 minutes. To finish, broil on high 3-5 minutes or until cheese browns.

Notes: This recipe makes a lot and is great with green beans and garlic bread.
